Drawing and Painting Droplets of Water

DRAWING WATER DROPLETS

STEP ONE - Shade an area with a 2B graphite

STEP TWO - smoosh it up a bit with a paper towel

STEP THREE - draw in droplet shape(s)

STEP FOUR

- make sure the droplets are all a similar shape (not common to have both ovals and circles on the same petal), also make sure the highlight is coming in the same direction for all.

- Add the dark shading in a crescent shape at the top of the droplets

- erase the sharp highlight and the soft refracted light at the bottom of the droplet and reflecting in the cast shadows

-Do a better job than me at blending the line between the dark and into the medium tones of the top droplet (-: It is a small thing but worth it. You smallest tortillon (blending stump) will be handy here.

- Note, the battery-operated eraser was not switched on for the gentle rubbing out of the lower refracted area of light or the light reflected in the cast shadow, but it was turned on (and held still) for the highlight.
