Enrolled students at Melbourne Art Classes can practice in any medium. Some ask to commence (or continue) in Watercolours or in Oils which is fine, however, the majority starting out use Acrylic paints on canvas, due to the flexibility and fast drying times. Moving on to other mediums is common later as well.
Many genres are covered over the course of a student’s individual curriculum which they can plan themselves . Firstly, more realistic subjects are recommended to enable all of the foundation creative skill areas to develop rapidly. Once a student wants to move on to expressing more abstract or surreal concepts, their skill-sets are developed enough to enable strong, unique and meaningful artworks. (anyone who wants to create a decorative abstract can follow a Youtube tutorial as easily as a child could, as minimum skill is required).
