FOR ALL AGES
We found some time ago that there was very little opportunity for parents, grandparents and siblings to all participate in a creative environment together, so we introduced the family workshop option. Below are some of the themes we have run already which were popular.
🎨 This series (scroll through below) of mixed casual art workshops held in Port Melbourne is mostly available to all ages and also to individuals, parents, grandparents/relatives together with kids.
🎨 Each casual workshop, (usually held on a Saturday (half day or full day) in small groups, has a set theme each, and our artists collaborate with individuals and pairs to facilitate the creation of a painting as outlined in each description.
Techniques demonstrated, practised and learned will include:
- colour mixing and harmonious relationships
- acrylic and mixed media, blending, diverse paint application techniques
- compositional arrangement and design
- follow-on courses for home practice are sometimes included
CASUAL FAMILY ART WORKSHOPS
PAINTING AN IMPASTO IMPRESSIONISTIC SCENE

COST: $120 per individual , $160/pair (two work together on a painting collaboration), all materials provided
MATERIALS - All materials will be provided, including a range of references, quality artist paints and impasto medium, canvas board, and necessary equipment. ( BYO snacks and drinks.)
DETAILS - Composition and design is an integral part of every workshop, so each participant (young and old) will be helped to create their own arrangement, inspired by the first impressionists.

🎨 Please register in the theme section you are interested in. The family-oriented workshops are scheduled throughout the year as registrations come in. We can also create and plan a custom family workshop for your own family. Contact us with any requests or questions. Some of our other casual workshops are appropriate for parent/child attendance as well (8 yrs and above).
🎨 Workshops are between 3 and 6 hours, and we take several breaks to change-it-up and refocus, snack and drink (participants bring their own appropriate snacks/ drinks. Some are scheduled over School Holidays and others on weekends during term.

- all materials will be provided, including a range of references, quality artist paints and impasto medium, canvas board, and necessary equipment. ( BYO snacks and drinks.)
- Composition and design is an integral part of every workshop, so each participant will be helped to create their own arrangement, as well as receive assistance and tips with drawing (and a drawing to easily transfer if desired)
SAT 1-5PM REGISTER INTEREST
DRAWING AND PAINTING THE OCEAN AND WAVES , Casual art Workshops in Melbourne
- $120 per individual, $160/pair (two work together on one painting project), all materials provided. all ages can book in, separately or together.
- all materials & tools will be provided, also including a range of related references, quality artist paints, canvas board, and necessary equipment. Port Art Online Studio follow-on class links will also be available. (BYO snacks and drinks. ) Suits both beginners and intermediates.
DETAILS - During this casual art workshop in Port Melbourne, young and old artists alike can learn a contemporary expressive approach to creating rolling waves and surf in artist-quality acrylic paint with tips on drawing water and waves and optimising your own compositional arrangement. Areas covered include colour relationships, textural techniques, glazing techniques

Usually there is a drawing prepared for a certain animal, but families can bring photos of their own animal

DRAWING AND PAINTING ROCKS AND A WATERFALL
INCORPORATING SEVERAL FOUNDATION PAINT APPLICATION TECHNIQUES and DESIGN THEORY
- stencilling, scumbling, sponging, stippling, glazing, hand-printing,
sgraffito, working in impasto and more (in fast drying professional grade acrylics.)
COST: $180 per individual, ages 13 and up
MATERIALS - all materials will be provided, including a range of references, quality artist paints, canvas board, and all necessary equipment. BYO snacks and drinks.
NB. Refunds for bookings can be made with 7 days notice before commencement. Cancellation after this point will incur 50% fees, unless a substitute workshop can be allocated for the participant.
